Our RMBIers
A diamond is no more than a chunk of coal that is made good under pressure
I am a corporate strategist by day, and a contemporary art & cuisine lover by night. Rationalizing randomness into structured display is my lifelong passion. Like cookery, the RMBI curriculum is a comprehensive recipe that pairs financial acumen with cutting-edge technologies perfectly. It confers students with significant autonomy in tailoring academic success to our own needs and interests. As for myself, I am a RMBI graduate with a double minor focusing on China studies and political science.
Immediately after graduation, my peers and I co-founded a decentralized payment company and furthered our entrepreneurship studies at Stanford Graduate Business School in 2017. Although this beloved start-up was later dissolved due to regulatory hurdles, the structured risk management training by RMBI allowed me to quickly identify alternative investment traits among Asian high-net-worth individuals. I rejoined the private banking industry as a market strategist, which eventually lights up a new career path pertaining to strategic planning and corporate development in North Asia.
Throughout my undergraduate studies, international case competitions also played a pivotal role in developing my passion for solving impactful, complex problems with motivated, charismatic leaders from around the globe. From regrouping after defeats, teaming up with former competitors, to eventually winning the Global 2nd Runner-up for the APECS Leveraged Buyout Case Competition in Singapore, this chapter of life has always brought about fond memories when being reflected upon.
Another lifelong blessing is in getting to meet new undergraduates from the RMBI Mentorship Program. The mutual learning trains us to be more capable business professionals.
Having worked in 5 countries to date, I have come to appreciate that dealing with uncertainties in life is a normal occurrence, in which being able to greet unanticipated downfalls as a close friend in life is an often-neglected privilege. To all RMBI brothers and sisters, just remember: Risk the fall and experience how it feels to fly.
