Our RMBIers

The most amazing part of the RMBI program is the FLEXIBILITY of its program structure. I found myself interested in entrepreneurship since Year 2 (2014). I am grateful that the RMBI program has given me great freedom to customize my study plan and take a minor in entrepreneurship based on my interests and career aspiration. This has played an important part in my entrepreneurial journey developing the “VOID” app, a mobile app that helps users release stress, improve sleeping quality and concentration through interesting games and audio instructions.

The idea of the “VOID” app was actually originated in my Year 3 (2015) when I was studying a programming course required by the RMBI curriculum. In view of the high stress level of most students in Hong Kong, I wished there could be a solution to take care of our mental health ourselves anytime anywhere. “VOID” has the meaning of “return nothing” in computer language which is also related to the mindfulness meditation concept: “Focusing on the present moment and let everything be here as if nothing can affect our peaceful state.” The computer science and business foundation courses of the RMBI program have equipped me with basic programming skills and business knowledge. All these knowledge and skillsets have laid a solid foundation in my entrepreneurial journey that helps me develop a product that better suits the market needs.

As an alumnus of RMBI, I strongly advise students to take a closer look at their “inner voices”. Although most graduates will go into the banking/ financial fields, it is nothing wrong to be the “minority” as long as you truly believe in your vision and passion.
