Our RMBIers
RMBI – Fulfilling yet amusing journey
RMBI is an unprecedented program that helps you achieve your career aspirations in multifaceted fields, from risk management and finance to technology and so on so forth. RMBI also takes pride in its flexibility of the program structure. Take me as a vivid example, I declared an additional major in Computer Science for my pursuit of advanced quantitative and programming skills. As a wannabe quant developer, both financial knowledge and programming skills are essential. Hardly could I acquire all the crucial expertise without the support of the RMBI program.
There has been a well-known rumour for years, saying that the industrial readiness for undergraduate study is low, but this is not the reality for RMBI students. Most RMBI students apply the knowledge learned from lectures to hackathons, competitions, and internships. In my freshman year, I took part in a hackathon with another RMBI student, eventually we obtained the first runner-up. Then, in my sophomore year, I founded a technology start-up and received HKD 200,000 seed fund from the HKSTP Ideation program and the Tech300 program, with software development and A.I. knowledge. Last summer, I took an internship at Accenture as a software engineer. All the above achievements are impossible without the knowledge from the RMBI program.
Some may think that career goals and university life is a tough dilemma. However, I would think RMBIers usually could strike the balance. I acted as an executive committee at student societies in year 1. Also, in the coming Spring semester, I am going to Finland as an exchange student, experiencing foreign cultures and embracing a completely environment. If you dare to challenge yourself, you could always fulfill career goals and enjoy university life in RMBI.
To all the students considering RMBI as your future major, I reckon RMBI is a warm family gathering people from different backgrounds and aspirations. I believe that you will go on a fulfilling journey in RMBI. Looking forward to seeing you in the RMBI orientation. Cheers!
