Our RMBIers
I am now doing an MSc in Statistical Science at the University of Oxford, after graduating from RMBI in 2021.
The RMBI program was very enjoyable to me as it exposed me to statistics, mathematics and machine learning on a daily basis. The lectures and programming assignments sparked my interest in these fields, which inspired me to pursue my current Master’s degree. The valuable skills and knowledge that RMBI has equipped me with are still applicable to my studies now!
A memorable part of the RMBI program was the Capstone Project done in my final year. I cooperated with two teammates to create multiple clustering algorithms to categorize a bank’s credit card customers into distinctive segments. We then exercised our business sense to understand the characteristics of each customer group and propose suitable rewards or offers accordingly. The one-year project was the best part of my learning in RMBI since it enabled me to improve my literature reading and research skills, practise my coding skills and deepen my understanding of machine learning.
After graduating from my MSc program, I aspire to work in areas where data science or machine learning can be applied. These domains are fascinating and highly demanded, because the future world is full of uncertainties which definitely requires artificial intelligence tools. I am confident that my learning in RMBI and the MSc will come in handy in the workplace.
To our current RMBI students, I would advise you to continuously hone your technical skills and follow the developmental trends in the world. There is surely a bright future ahead waiting for you to embrace!
