My RMBI Journey: Play Hard Work Hard

Three years ago, I was attracted by the diversified curriculum of the RMBI program that integrates the fields of Engineering, Computer Science, and Business, it looks like the program would train and equip students with analytical, mathematical, and financial skillset. But frankly speaking, at the same time I had a doubt: “Am I capable enough to compete with peers? Am I able to make new friends there?” I once doubted whether I could make an unregretful decision. However, as of now, I can say that I have made the right choice. The past three years were definitely a fruitful experience. I can see myself growing a lot both academically and mentally after joining the RMBI program.

RMBI is an all-rounded program that equips students with professional skills and knowledge, such as statistics, data science, and finance, which allow us to pursue further studies in different fields. Thanks to the program, I got the opportunities to participate in a variety of activities, including the orientation camp held by the RMBI student society, mentorship program, career workshops, and industrial experience. I am thankful to everyone that I have met in the RMBI Program, especially the UG Coordinator, Prof. Jean Wang who has been providing advice and assistance on my exchange study plan.

Although for the past three years we mostly learned online and barely met each other face to face, the "new normal" did not affect my university life. I could still see the lecturers’ dedication to teaching and schoolmates’ enthusiasm for learning. If you ask me what is the best part of the learning at the RMBI Program, I would say everything, including the curriculum, career planning assistance, and people. The curriculum allows students to get practical knowledge and skillsets through projects, presentations, and assignments; the career planning assistance provides us with personalized career advice and hands-on industry experience; the faculty, the program office and schoolmates are supportive, warm, and caring.

People always say: “Play hard, work hard”. I found this can fully describe my study life at the RMBI Program. I look forward to spending my remaining university life as fruitful as I can. If you are considering getting into the RMBI program, I would tell you by experience without hesitation: “Go ahead”!
