Our RMBIers
Hello, this is Tiona, an RMBI graduate in 2021. I am more than happy to share some highlights of the four years of university life. In my study of RMBI, I am very thankful to gain tremendous learning exposure and meet the peers who grew together with me as well as knowledgeable and encouraging teachers. Four elements would help sum the highlights up.
"R"ewarding experience: RMBI spirit encourages students to have a risk-taking mindset. I co-led a social enterprise bARTik with other UST mates from Year 2 to my final year of study. It was an eye-opening experience to promote cultural preservation by introducing hand-made products of the ethical minority groups to the markets such as Hong Kong and Taiwan. In this project, we hosted a pop-up store at Tsim Sha Tsui and collaborated with startups in Hong Kong and Guizhou.
"M"entorship: RMBI always connects students to alumni and veterans coming from a wide range of industries. I have benefited greatly from these mentorships and gained knowledge about different career paths and had a foretaste of what the corporate world is like before graduating.
"B" uddies: RMBI admits students with diversified backgrounds and interests. Because of the good mix, I have made friends with students coming from all parts of the world. The capstone project in the final year has been an accelerator to our bonding as we worked towards the same goal for nearly one year.
"I"nternships: RMBI encourages us to get hands-on experience by taking up internships. I have taken internships in 5 industries, ranging from cosmetic, risk advisory, central banking, virtual banking to consumer banking. I am now working as a graduate analyst at a US bank. Studying RMBI has helped me land my career interest in my current role.
I have a tip to all future RMBIers: Be open-minded to every challenge you face. People are willing to help you succeed in your goal, so take the step to ask and learn humbly. Good luck!
