"Business As Mutual – Promoting Sustainable Business Practices Through Risk Management"

The epidemic situation has dealt a heavy blow to various industries including the property sector in Hong Kong. In face of these uncertain times and in order to cope with this fast-evolving situation, it is necessary for every business enterprise to stay agile and sustain business performance by implementing effective risk management strategies. Mr. George Hongchoy will share Link REIT’s innovative Enterprise Risk Management Model which identifies risk factors from a 360-Degree approach and turns risk factors into risk drivers to promote sustainable business practices and maximize business outcomes.

Mr. George HONGCHOY has been appointed Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Manager since February 2009 and May 2010 respectively. He is also one of the responsible officers of the Manager for the purposes of the Securities and Futures Ordinance, a director of The Link Holdings Limited, Link Properties Limited, The Link Finance Limited and a number of subsidiaries of Link.

He is the chairman of the Supervisory Committee of The Tracker Fund of Hong Kong, a trustee of the University of Pennsylvania, an adjunct professor of the Department of Real Estate and Construction of The University of Hong Kong, a member of the Asia-Pacific Advisory Board of International Council of Shopping Centers, a global governing trustee of the Urban Land Institute and an advisor of Our Hong Kong Foundation Limited. He was a member of the Corporate Governance Committee of Charoen Pokphand Group, Thailand from 2016 to 2018.

Mr. Hongchoy began his career in New Zealand and has since held various senior management positions in financial consulting, investment banking and real estate investment.

He was named one of Harvard Business Review’s 100 Best-Performing CEOs in the World 2019, the Country Winner of Hong Kong/Macau Region in the EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2017 China Award, Business Person of the Year by DHL/SCMP Hong Kong Business Awards in 2015, and was also presented with the Director of the Year Award (Listed Companies – Executive Directors) by The Hong Kong Institute of Directors in 2011.

Mr. Hongchoy holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Canterbury and an MBA degree from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. He is a Chartered Accountant, a Senior Fellow and a member of the Corporate Advisory Council of the Hong Kong Securities and Investment Institute, a Fellow member of The Hong Kong Institute of Directors, the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, and the Institute of Shopping Centre Management. He was a Council member of The Hong Kong Institute of Directors.

Mr. Kenny Koo Sing-fai is Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Hutchison Telecommunications Hong Kong Holdings Limited (HTHKH or the company). He joined the HWL Group in 2006 and became Director of Enterprise and International Business of the company in 2014. He led the corporate market and international services, business and development aspects of the mobile business until 2015 when joined Hutchison Asia Telecom Group (HAT) as Chief Commercial Officer of Vietnamobile and General Manager - International Services, overseeing and managing HAT’s mobile operations in high-growth markets such as Vietnam and Indonesia. Mr. Koo re-joined HTHKH in 2017 as Director of Roaming and Services Development and became Chief Commercial Officer in January 2018.

Mr. Koo spearheaded the Company’s pioneering mobile projects with renowned strategic partners such as Apple, Facebook, WhatsApp, Microsoft and Google since mobile internet boomed. He is instrumental in driving new business strategies and bringing in new elements as the Company is developing cloud computing, big data and IoT solutions to create an ecosystem for Hong Kong’s smart city initiatives and a new digital Internet economy.

Mr. Koo is a member of Hong Kong Institute of Director, Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, Hong Kong Management Association and Employers’ Federation of Hong Kong. He is currently council member of Business Discipline Advisory Board of Vocational Training Council and a mentor of Alibaba Entrepreneurs Fund.

 
"COVID, Continuity and Transformation"

"Business continuity has been crucial to managing business activities while protecting staff and customers during the COVID pandemic. Mr. Richard Cheung will briefly share HKJC’s risk-based approach to managing its racing and wagering operations and development of digital readiness over the years, which have enabled the Club to sustain strong business result during COVID. He will also share how HKJC is transforming its retail network going forward to anticipate the changing consumer habits, which have been accelerated as a result of the pandemic."

As an Executive Directors of The Hong Kong Jockey Club since 2010, Richard Cheung leads the Customer and International Business Development Division which is responsible for all the wagering operations, customer segment experience, channel and marketing with over 1,200 full and 10,000 part-time employees.

Richard is also responsible for overseas development of HKJC’s racing betting business in over 20 jurisdictions.

Other responsibilities of Richard include the racecourse re-development project as well as HKJC’s Sports Lottery cooperation with the Ministry of Sports in China.

Richard has an MBA from Harvard Business School where he graduated as Baker Scholar.

As Chief Executive Officer of Langham Hospitality Group, Stefan Leser oversees all aspects of the group’s global portfolio of hotels, resorts and residences. He provides strategic guidance to achieve the company’s vision, implementing organizational processes for all divisions, and leading the global expansion drive.

With over 30 years of experience in the travel and hospitality industries, Stefan was previously the group chief executive officer and a member of the board of directors at Jumeirah International. He also held senior roles for more than a decade at Kuoni Travel Holding Ltd., the leading Swiss travel services provider. As a member of Kuoni’s executive board and executive vice president of the outbound and specialists division, he directed the company’s travel businesses, and was also responsible for all inbound destination management businesses. Prior to joining Kuoni, Leser spent six years working in the information technology industry with Swissair and EDS Corporation.

He holds a MBA from Augusta State University of Georgia (U.S.)

Prof. Kar Yan TAM, MH

Professor Kar Yan TAM is Dean of the HKUST Business School and Chair Professor of Information Systems, Business Statistics and Operations Management. He joined HKUST in 1992 as a founding member of the School. Prior to being Dean of the Business School, he was Dean of Students and Associate Provost at HKUST leading the internationalization efforts of the University, improving the quality of the undergraduate education and supporting students’ holistic educational needs. Professor Tam is currently a board member of Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) and was the Past President of the Association of Asia Pacific Business Schools (AAPBS). He is serving on the Curriculum Development Council and Hong Kong Productivity Council. He is an information system scholar specializing in Fintech and technology adoption and playing an active role in promoting academia-business collaboration projects and startups.

Kai-Lung Hui is Elman Family Professor of Business, Associate Dean for Research and Deputy Head and Chair Professor in the Department of Information Systems, Business Statistics, and Operations Management at the HKUST Business School. His research interests include cybercrime economics and policy, Fintech, privacy, IT policy, and electronic commerce. His research has been published in scholarly journals including Information Systems Research, Management Science, MIS Quarterly, and Journal of Management Information Systems, among others. He is currently serving as a Senior Editor for Information Systems Research and an Editorial Board Member for Journal of Management Information Systems, two of the top three information systems journals used in the Financial Times’ business school ranking.

Professor Hui has provided expert advice and consulting services to various government and non-government organizations including the Intellectual Property Department of the Hong Kong SAR Government, World Intellectual Property Organization, and Ministry of Law of Singapore. He frequently speaks in conferences and forums on digital piracy, cybersecurity and privacy, Fintech, and technology policy organized by professional organizations in the banking, education, insurance, finance, and IT industries. Prof. Hui is an honorary advisor of the Hong Kong Police College and a member of the Insurance Authority’s Expert Panel on Cybersecurity. He is serving as an advisor for UC.NOW and an ad hoc consultant for various companies and organizations.

Professor Hui has taught undergraduate, MSc, MBA, EMBA, PhD, and executive courses on cybersecurity and risk management, privacy and information management, Fintech, blockchain and cryptocurrencies, big data analytics, strategic IT management, and competitive business strategy, among others. He obtained his BBA and PhD degrees from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
