Leading in the Era of AI

We are living in the era of AI. In his speech, Fred Sheu, National Technology Officer of Microsoft Hong Kong, will showcase how Microsoft’s first-hand enterprise-grade Copilot and Azure OpenAI Services can empower organizations to reimagine their business operations and enhance employees' productivity and wellbeing. He will also touch upon Microsoft’s approaches towards Responsible AI and AI Customer Commitment to ensure enterprises use AI with confidence while adhering to high-level security and compliance regulations and mitigating ethical risks.

As National Technology Officer at Microsoft Hong Kong, Fred Sheu supports policy decision and delivers technologically relevant and scalable solutions into Hong Kong market. His main objectives are to align IT value propositions to public policies in such areas as healthcare, education, the environment, and local social and economic development; and to promote a digital agenda in top policy areas, including innovation, security and privacy, technology neutrality, accessibility, and interoperability.

Prior to Microsoft, Fred worked with Hewlett Packard (HP) Enterprise where he was the General Manager of Software for HPE Hong Kong. Fred is an active veteran in Hong Kong ICT industry, he serves in councils of Hong Kong Computer Society (HKCS), itSMF Hong Kong Chapter and the Hong Kong Information Technology Federation (HKITF).

Fred graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Computer Science (Hon) degree.

Mr. Yue brings a wealth of experience, spanning two decades in sales, marketing, and operations. He recently served as Google's global strategy enablement lead for sales, driving the growth and development of Google’s global workforce.

Prior to that, he held leadership roles within Google Canada and Southeast Asia, including Industry Lead for Banking, Financial Services and Government where he spearheaded the successful launch of Google Pay, a first for the APAC region.

Beyond his extensive experience in finance, Mr. Yue has also held sales leadership positions across diverse industries such as retail/e-commerce, media, and entertainment, helping clients embrace digitalization and expand globally leveraging digital technologies.

Mr. Liu Binxing (Leo) has a longstanding dedication to advancing the worldwide adoption of cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies. His portfolio showcases an exceptional comprehension and wealth of hands-on experience in strategizing and deploying high-tech industry sectors. Leo is currently the Vice President of International Business and General Manager of North APAC Region of Alibaba Cloud Intelligence International. Additionally, he is a board member for several Alibaba Cloud Intelligence Group's subsidiaries across the North APAC Region, leading the team to establish the entire region's cloud computing and network infrastructure, and providing comprehensive cloud solutions such as IaaS, PaaS, AI, security, and IoTs to customers in various industries.

Moreover, Leo introduced the “Sustainable Innovation Platform” concept to the globe, making Alibaba Cloud one of the largest public cloud providers in the region in a short time. At the same time, Leo is committed to constructing cloud ecosystem and business innovation, providing entrepreneurs with technical and financial support to accelerate digitalization in the market.

Leo actively promotes cloud computing and AI in social education. He constantly shares his leadership thoughts with the market, in a column called "Alibaba Cloud Journal" in the Hong Kong Economic Times. AI technology has been used in the financial markets for a long time but the focus has predominantly been around compliance, fraud detection, etc. However, over the last 15 years Bloomberg has provided AI solutions for the front office (Sales and Trading). We'll go through briefly how AI has evolved for the front office over time, use cases that cover problems the market faces, why AI is the solution for these problems and live demos of what Bloomberg has developed and deployed into production for the financial community.

APAC Equity Derivatives Market Specialist, Bloomberg L.P.

Kenny Chong serves as senior advisor to Bloomberg’s clients, who are senior leaders in the industry, on how to manage equity derivatives business and implement systematic trading strategies in Greater China and North Asia.

Prior to joining Bloomberg, he served as a Portfolio Manager at Verition, a multi-strategy hedge fund based in Greenwich, Connecticut, and was instrumental in setting up its Hong Kong office. He was also appointed in the Derivatives Market Consultative Panel (DMCP) of the HKEx.  

Mr. Chong is a former Managing Director and Head of Equity Derivatives and Proprietary Trading at Haitong International, where he established and led the global derivatives trading and market making business from 2016 to 2021.

He has over 18 years of trading experience, having worked in Lehman Brothers and Nomura in various roles related to flow derivatives, options market making and high frequency trading.    He holds a MFin from HKU, a MSc in HKUST and a BEng (Software) from McMaster University in Canada.

Mark Teo is a seasoned Bloomberg professional with nearly a decade of experience in various roles.   His experience includes managing the largest Bloomberg accounts in Taiwan, developing, and selling Bloomberg's Trade Management Systems, Quant platforms and Structured Product Pricing Engines.

He also possesses extensive consulting experience for capital market players across APAC on how they can streamline their pre-trade, in-trade and post-trade workflows for various asset classes (FX, FI and Derivatives).

Mr. Teo is now Global AI Product Manager and is now working on developing Bloomberg AI NLP models that can analyze communications (chat, emails, etc.) and extract valuable insights for capital market activities. Mark is based in London, England.

Over the years, he has advised and built AI solutions for many industry powerhouses from various fields. Managing data scientists, UI/UX designers and business analysts, Kane leads ThinkCol Transform to enable business to be more AI-driven.

Kane has been promoting data science in Hong Kong continuously. He is the chairman of the Hong Kong Data Science Society. Apart from lecturing at HKU Space, Kane has spoken at multiple international conferences and headed executive trainings on artificial intelligence.

Being a seasoned digital consultant, a Certified Public Accountant and a New York attorney, Kane has the unique ability to manage multi-disciplinary ventures. He takes pride in using his technical know-how to transform companies, so that they can be data-driven and innovative entities.

Professor Ki Ling Cheung is an Associate Professor in the Department of Information Systems, Business Statistics and Operations Management, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He received a B.S. degree in Mathematics from University of Wisconsin, Madison, a M.S. degree and a Ph.D. degree in Industrial Engineering, both from Stanford University. Prior to joining HKUST in 1993, he was a management consultant at Teknekron Corporation, California, U.S.A. Dr. Cheung has extensive consulting experience in US, Canada and Hong Kong. His clients include companies such as Matsushita, British Petroleum, Dofasco Steel, Algoma Steel and Esquel. He also taught executive-level supply chain management courses for HKUST. His primary research interest is in inventory management and supply chain management, and his research work appears in leading professional journals such as Management Science, Operations Research, Manufacturing and Service Operations Management, IIE Transactions, Naval Research Logistics and Supply Chain Management Review. He had been a member of the editorial board for the supply chain management department of IIE Transactions. Professor Cheung received the HKUST "Best Ten Lecturers" award in 1996. He is also a recipient of the Franklin Prize of Teaching Excellence in the Business School.

Professor Jean Wang is an Associate Professor of Business Education in the Department of Information Systems, Business Statistics and Operations Management, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). She received a B.S. degree in Computer Science and a B.A. degree in Economics from Peking University, and a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from HKUST.

She is the UG Program Coordinator for the Bachelor of Science in Risk Management and Business Intelligence (RMBI) program. She has taught extensively at the undergraduate and postgraduate level and her current teaching focus is on interdisciplinary education, particularly, how to adopt advanced technologies, such as data science and AI, in business setting, so as to bridge the gap between business strategy and technical execution.

Professor Wang collaborated with Microsoft and designed the first AI-centric MBA elective in Hong Kong, as part of Microsoft’s Global AI Business School initiative, providing MBA students with the latest thinking and practice on business transformation with artificial intelligence. Her executive education experience includes HKSAR Government, Hong Kong Institute of Bankers and etc., covering various topics including Business Data Analytics, Data Visualization for Decision Making, and Business Transformation with AI. She is also a co-founder of both a start-up that provides AI-powered dentistry solutions and a technology consultancy firm.
